Text Box: History

Text Box: Avondale Scout Reservation has been around since 1957.  The 1728 acre plot of land was partially purchased and partially donated to the Istrouma Area Council by friends of the Scouting movement.  ASR is made up of five areas:  Magee, Tigator, Woodbadge Hill, Camp Hunter, and Camp Avondale.  Camp Avondale is where a majority of the Summer Camp activities have been happening since the Summer of 1958.  2008 marks the 50th consecutive year of Summer Camp.  ASR is home to over 200 acres of lakes, 8 miles of creeks, dozens of campsites, 25 miles of trails, a Native American archeological site, raccoons, armadillos, whitetail deer, wild turkey, wild hogs, and just about every weekend...wild Boy Scouts!  We hope you come ready to explore Avondale, because there is always something new and adventurous to find.
